Soccer Nuns
A BBC World Service documentary about a team of Tibetan Buddhist nuns who play football. Radio, so the sound is the picture.
Radio documentary is the purest form of the job. There is no picture to lean on; the altitude, the courtyard, the ball on gravel and the laughter all have to be built in the listener’s head from sound alone.
The programme won an Amnesty Human Rights Press Award.
Draft. Chris to approve. On the site this one needs an audio excerpt rather than the full 26 minutes.
